JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

 

Executive Director:  The Regional Task Force on the Homeless is seeking new leadership.  The Executive Director is responsible for producing the San Diego Region’s Homeless Profile and Funding Study on a regular basis.  To this end, the Executive Director collects, analyzes, writes and disseminates key documents on a regular basis and participates in the development of regional and local plans to serve the homeless population. This information is critical to making policy and funding decisions that effect social service agencies throughout the region and the task force itself.  The Executive Director manages the Homeless Management Information System, a standardized data collection system for tracking homeless clients, region wide and produce the annual AHAR for the region and for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). 

          The Executive Director leads and coordinates the annual point in time homeless count and the recruitment and deployment of volunteers and interns who count the homeless on the street which is crucial to attracting new funding and maintaining current funding levels to the region.  The Executive Director then is responsible for writing the Regional Homeless Profile, a statistical study of the demographic composition of San Diego’s homeless population.  The Executive Director actively participates on the  Regional Continuum of Care Council and works closely with them to provide data required as part of the Annual Homeless Assessment Report (AHAR) for both the City and County of San Diego to support the HUD SHP Super NOFA applications.  The Executive Director is also responsible for coordinating the annual Homeless Connect project for the City of San Diego in concert with Homeless Connect nation wide.  This event brings providers of homeless services together to meet the needs of the homeless in one day.    
                               
          The Executive Director also represents the Board on the regions Plan to End Chronic Homelessness Implementation committee, and attends other coalitions and committees and governmental hearings to educate and advocate for the homeless and the agencies that serve them.
                             
QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate is strong leader who has led a 501c3 non-profit organization of similar size and scope and target population (homeless), has a working knowledge of the primary funding streams that support homeless services, succeeded in fundraising efforts, with research, writing and demonstrated data analysis and computer skills including experience with Homeless Management Information Systems, data base networking and data report development.

  • Education:
    • A bachelor’s degree in public administration, non-profit management, or a related field. Advanced coursework in research methods, statistics and data analysis is preferred.
  • Experience: 
    • Possess at least 5 years’ experience in the non-profit or public realm in a senior management role or equivalent. Organizational management experience in staff supervision, resource development, data management and data analysis and reporting required.  Direct experience in contract compliance and familiarity with federal and local government regulations, preferred.  Experience developing, managing and monitoring a budget size of $500,000 or more.  Demonstrated productivity in grant writing and/or research/statistical analysis (products will be reviewed in the interview phase of the selection process).

    • Marketing, fundraising and event planning.
    • Maintain existing funding relationships and initiate new ones
    • Read and interpret financial reports.
    • Advocate for the homeless and the social service agencies that help them.
    • Attends work consistently and punctually.  Comes to meetings prepared and on time; honors work commitments; follows through on deliverables; meets deadlines.
    • Solve problems and resolve conflicts with excellent judgment.
    • Has own reliable transportation to travel throughout San Diego County to meetings.

SALARY RANGE AND APPLICATION PROCESS
