San Diego County 2012 Homeless Count

  • We are planning to release summary counts (totals of unsheltered and sheltered) at the end of February.  There are different systems for tracking, so we need to combine and confirm the data from all shelters and other locations that are housing people who meet the federal definition of homelessness.
  • Also, we are working on inputting all of the unsheltered counts (605 maps with 3 separate types: Individuals, Vehicles, Hand-built Structures).  Additionally, we need to determine the current multiplier (used to account for how many individuals we attribute to vehicles and hand-built structures.)  Once entered we have to cross-check and verify all counts.
  • We plan to begin to release unsheltered survey data in March.  In addition to entering thousands of data points from the survey data, we need to perform quality checks and various analysis in order to share what we have learned.
  • Press releases will be shared once we are ready with the 2012 results.
