Motivational Interviewing Training

RTFH has developed the Continuum of Care’s Homeless Outreach Standards through extensive community input. To ensure outreach workers across the county have the skills needed to effectively engage people experiencing unsheltered homelessness and support their transition to housing, the Outreach Standards include required training in key areas.

One required training area is Motivational Interviewing. To support outreach workers whose organizations do not already provide this training, RTFH has partnered with UCLA’s Integrated Substance Abuse Programs to offer Motivational Interviewing training. Outreach workers only need to attend one session.

Each training is 3.5 hours long and highly interactive. Space is limited due to the training format.
